reportserver login failed
I have a report server running on a win2003 sp1 domain controller. The
reportServer database is sql2005 sp2 also running on the domain controller.
Now I´m trying to configure a report. The reports datasource is a SqlServer
2000 database also running on the domain controller
The connection string is "Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=MyDataDB"
If I try to run the report I´ve got a login error (rsLogonFailed)
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at
this computer. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070569)
I think it isn´t the connection to the sql2000 database because I have tried
to prompt the user to type credentials. The same error
Any ideas?
regards
BjörnFound it.
Had to allow the user to login local

Reports won't attach in subscription email after sp2 installation
I installed SP2 on one of the 2 reporting servers we have in our
environment. Before the SP installation, Subscriptions were able to send the
attached reports. Now the job reports an error. I set up the same
subscription and reports to the server not running SP2 (with identical
settings) and the report worked fine.
If I choose to send only a link, then it works. However, any time I try to
add an attachement, I get errors. Any Ideas? There are no specific errors
in the reportserver logs...
Please help!Do you have some Date fields in report ?
Or do you have changed the Default language for report ?

2003. No changes were required to the report services server.
FYI

Reports only render sometimes
render all of the time, sometimes they run fine in a few seconds other times
they simply do not run. These are small reports with only a few hundred
records in the dataset.
They are using store procedures to generate the data and the stored
procedures always finish, so i am assuming it is at the rendering stages
where i am experiencing this intermittent problem.
Has anyone any idea where to start looking or diagnosing. I can see no
logic or pattern that is causing the reports to fail only sometimes.
I would be the most grateful man in the world if somebody could help.

Gerry ConnollyCheck the Reporting Services error logs and see if you see an "Assert" error
in there. If you do then it could be related to the AMD Cool N' Quiet
technology.
Add the following line to your boot.ini after your other boot switches and
see if that works.
switch: /usepmtimer

ReportRenderingException for Subscription PDF
my reports in IE, and export them as PDF's. But when I put them on a shared
schedule, the PDF's throw a ReportRenderingException. The Excel reports are
running fine.
I need to run several hundred reports tomorrow, so any help would be
appreciated.
I can't find where this might be in the log files, searching for the report
name or the
string ReportRenderingException yields nothing.Hello,
From the post, it seems that you can view the report, and manually export
it to a pdf file successfully; however, when exporting the report via
Subscription as pdf file, you received the ReportRenderingException error.
You can export the report via Subscription as Excel reports successfully.
If I'm off base, please feel free to let me know.

If you'd like to work with newsgroup, please help me collect some
information to troubleshoot the issue or perform troubleshooting steps:
1. Please check if the issue is report related. If possible, test a simple
report to check the issue.
For example, if the issue occurs on a matrix report which has a several
matrix columns, check other report which isn't matrix report.
2. Please check if the issue is account related.
If possible, log on as a domain\administrative user account to test the
issue.
3. Please check if the issue is machine related.
4. Use FileMon and RegMon to check if there is any registry permission
issue or file permission issue.
You can download them from the following web site:
FileMon:
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml
RegMon:
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/regmon.shtml
Check the FileMon log file and RegMon log file to see if there is any
"Access Denied" error. If so, grant full control on the related registry
key or files.
5. Check the reporting services log files. By default, the log files are
located in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting
Services\LogFiles folder.
6. Post here the exact error message.
I hope the information is helpful.

I resolved this particular problem with at "shot in the dark", makeing sure
that "Do not timeout report execution" was checked on Site Settings. This got
most of my reports to run properly.
I'm still getting occasional "Error: Subreport could not be shown" for
reports that I can run manually, and which can be run with the same
parameters on the same schedule! Reports running on that schedule after that
report run fine. Sometimes the error shows with the first subreport,
sometimes with only some (but once it shows up, all the subreports in that
report fail until the last one which has no external data connection.)
Perhaps there's another setting, not in the web-gui that I can set?
Thanks,
Avery.

>|||Hello,
Based on my research, similar issue was resolved by recreating main report
or Subreport which has problems.
I suggest that you perform the following steps to narrow down the issue:
1. Check if the Subreport is able to render by itself as a stand-alone
report.
2. Check if the Main report is able to render by itself as a stand-alone
report.
3. Create a test report with a test subreport. Make sure it works fine.
4. Add the failing subreport to the test project and the test main report.
If it works fine, the original main report may have problems. If so,
recreate the original main report and add the subreport to it to test.
Also, you can configure the Report Server for Tracing. You may need to set
the Tracing Levels to 4 (Verbose mode). Then reproduce the issue. After
that, check the Reporting Services Trace Logs to find the cause.
For more information to configure a Report Server for Tracing, please
access the following web site:
Configuring a Report Server for Tracing
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/rsadmin/htm
/arp_configserver_v1_273t.asp
If the issue still exists, please post here the trace logs for research.
I hope the information is helpful.

Reporting Services, MDX, large dimensions, and dimension properties.
I am using Reporting Services against a SSAS 2005 (SP2) database.
I have a very large Items dimension (about 2.8 million items), which has a hierarchy of Category - Family - Series.
I need to produce a report that has monthly orders for all items (well, it has more than this - past sales and current inventory and vendor purchase orders, but I'll simplify the scenario here).
I need to show the item number, description, series, family, and category on the report, plus the month of sales across the columns.
The query builder in SSRS designer gives me this MDX:
SELECT
NONEMPTY { [Measures].[Order Quantity] } ONCOLUMNS,
NONEMPTY {
([Items].[Category].[Category].ALLMEMBERS *
[Items].[Family].[Family].ALLMEMBERS *
[Items].[Series].[Series].ALLMEMBERS *
[Items].[Item Number].[Item Number].ALLMEMBERS *
[Items].[Description].[Description].ALLMEMBERS *
[Time].[Month].[Month].ALLMEMBERS ) }
DIMENSIONPROPERTIESMEMBER_CAPTION, MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAMEONROWS
FROM [Consolidated] CELLPROPERTIESVALUE, BACK_COLOR, FORE_COLOR, FORMATTED_VALUE, FORMAT_STRING, FONT_NAME, FONT_SIZE, FONT_FLAGS
The problem is that the cross-join for all those Items attributes quickly overwhelms the 4 billion tuple limit. (2 million item numbers * 2 million descriptions * 50 categories * 50 families * 250 series = a big number)
If I add filter parameters to limit this, the query designer puts them in the FROM clause, but I don't know when the cross join is performed - from the resulting filtered FROM cube? It doesn't seem to do that.
In my reading on MDX, I see that there are dimension properties that seem like just the ticket to get around this tuple limitation...
SELECT
NONEMPTY { [Measures].[Order Quantity] } ONCOLUMNS,
NONEMPTY {
[Items].[Item Number].[Item Number].ALLMEMBERS *
[Time].[Month].[Month].ALLMEMBERS ) }
DIMENSIONPROPERTIES
[Items].[Category].[Category],
[Items].[Family].[Family],
[Items].[Series].[Series],
[Items].[Description].[Description],
MEMBER_CAPTION, MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAMEONROWS
FROM [Consolidated] CELLPROPERTIESVALUE, BACK_COLOR, FORE_COLOR, FORMATTED_VALUE, FORMAT_STRING, FONT_NAME, FONT_SIZE, FONT_FLAGS
(Assuming I can get the above to work - see this thread.)
When I run this in the MDX query window in SQL Management Studio, I don't get additional columns in the result set, but I presume that these attributes become (custom?) properties of the Items.ItemNumber column in the resultset. Are these properties accessible in the dataset created by Reporting Services? If so, how?
If not, then how can I show the descriptive attributes of the dimension in the report without the huge cross-join?
(As an aside, I am sure hoping the next generation of SSRS (or some 3rd party controls) will replace the matrix control which can only handle a 2-dimensional resultset, so I don't have to flatten out a multi-dimensional, hierarchical dataset down to a 2-d table structure. It's ugly.)
Mike
You may want to take a look at the EXISTING and/or the NONEMPTY functions. You might be able to use these creatively on your row axis to limit the number of members in the set prior to the cross join.
B.
